Fat Joe Defends V-Nasty's Use of The N-Word
Kreayshawn ally and White Girl Mob representer V-Nasty has a new supporter in Fat Joe, who defended the Cali rapper's controversial use of the N-word in an interview posted by VladTV. V has come under fire for profligate and casual use of the word ever since she gained national attention, but Joey Crack argues that the term shouldn't be off-limits.
"There are white n***ers everywhere," he began. "Unfortunately, the word started as a racist thing many, many, many, many, many years ago. We don't view it as that no more."
Joe argued that if rappers use the word, and rap music is for everyone, then it' misguided to lash out at members of other races who pick up on it.
"How can we say rap music is for everyone?" he queried. "We say n***a all day. They think that's what's cool."
"I'm willing to defend her and I've never met her a day in my life. I'm sure she meant it as a term of endearment," he said.
Joe, who is Puerto Rican, has himself been criticized for using the n-word in the past. But even those who argue against the word's usage are sometimes hypocritical. The "Lean Back" rapper told an anecdote about when he first met the Reverend Al Sharpton, who famously campaigned against the epithet, and the Rev. referred to him as "The realest n***a in New York."
