Willow Smith Is 'Grateful' for Nicki Minaj Duet
Willow Smith may be celebrating her eleventh birthday, but it looks like she got her present early from a certain Barbie.
The pint-sized pop star chatted with Access Hollywood recently about her newest track "Fireball" which features Nicki Minaj.
"It was really great because the first time I heard her on the actual track, I was like 'Who's that?' And they said 'Oh, it's Nicki,' " Willow recalled. "I said 'Oh my gosh, that's so great!' I just got really excited so I'm really grateful for that."
But the making of "Fireball" wasn't where the two artists initially met.
"We recorded [the song] in two different places, so I got to meet her at the BET Awards and it was really cool," Willow said. "She wore her little skeleton outfit and I was like 'Aw, that's really cool!' She's really cool."
Still, though Willow says when she met Nicki, it was a brief encounter just before Minaj went on stage to perform and the two didn't discuss a duet.
"It was a surprise for me," Willow shared of their duet. "They told me she was going to be on it, but I was like 'That's not gonna happen.' Then later on, they told me 'She's on the song' and I was like 'That's awesome.'"
"I would love to work with Nicki Minaj again, she's really lively," Willow added. "The other person I'd like to work with is Jessie J because she's got a great voice and she's also really lively."
