Beyoncé Explains the Significance of 4 \r \r
Beyoncé just might be superstitious when it comes coincidences, unless she doesn’t believe in coincidences. Talking to Robin Roberts in Central Park on “Good Morning America,” the singer says a lot of her fans were calling the album 4 on Twitter and Facebook so she honored their creativity and took the number as the name for her fourth studio effort.
She also explains what the number four means to her, saying, "My birthday is on the fourth. My mother's birthday is on the fourth. My husband's [Jay-Z] birthday is on the fourth. I got married on the fourth.” When it comes to the sound of her latest album, she describes it as encompassing a lot of live instrumentation as she says she's more focused on making music with good melodies and not so much on making radio songs.
"It is a bit of rock, jazz,” Beyoncé tells Roberts. "I wanted to bring chords and bridges and melody back on the radio. That was my goal. I figured after all these years I earned the right to have artistic freedom.” Clint Eastwood apparently agrees as she noted he casted her for the remake of A Star is Born, which seems extremely apropos.
According to early estimates, 4 is expected to debut at the top of the Billboard charts this week.
