June Ambrose Chats About New HSN Fashion Line
Stylist to the stars June Ambrose had such success with her June By June Ambrose fall fashion collection through the Home Shopping Network that she’s back to give us more. Her latest offerings for spring, which will launch March 25, feature fun prints, colors and ready-to-wear pieces that will follow you on your adventures around the world. In a recent interview with MadameNoire.com, Ambrose opened up about the inspiration behind her latest collection.
“I traveled a lot this year. I was in Southeast Asia, Australia and altogether I visited about 15 countries. Throughout my travels I was inspired by prints, and I knew they would be impactful for the spring. So this collection was the Hopeless Romantic collection,” Ambrose said. “It allows you to dream and it’s provocative. There are bodycon dresses and prints that accentuate and hug all the right curves on your body. Also, there are pieces that help camouflage the areas you are a little more modest about. So there is a frock for every woman.”
“[And] the garments [can travel],” she added. “I’ve packed 10 of the dresses in a carry-on and they don’t wrinkle. For a woman on the go, this is important. Whether you’re a Rock Mom, starting college or your career, these dresses play into being professional too.”
Ambrose, who gained notoriety for dressing up A-listers such as Jay Z, Mariah Carey and Diddy, urged women entrepreneurs to “pace yourself, have a plan, really have an understanding of the technicalities and logistics of launching a line.” She explained the importance of becoming an expert in your field, getting to know your market extremely well and fueling your ambition.
“For those who are really interested in fashion, you have to know who you are. Whether you go into television, film, editorial or personal styling, you have to focus on what you’re doing,” Ambrose said. “You can’t focus on 20,000 things at one time. If you’re launching a collection, it is OK to start with one item. I started with turbans, then glasses, and now I’ve moved into shoes, apparel and bags. I had to build my business; it definitely didn’t happen overnight.”
