High school movies are always crowd pleasers, but few have had us leaping out of our seats like Dope. Rick Famuyiwa's comedy — which is like a cross between Risky Business and Friday — earned raves at the Sundance Film Festival and features some of the most exciting performances you'll see on screen this year.
We've got an exclusive look at the trailer for Dope, cut appropriately to Kendrick Lamar's infectious self-love anthem "i."
See Shameik Moore as Malcolm, a college-bound high school student who finds himself in the center of a drug deal gone bad after he follows a girl he's crushing on (Zoe Kravitz) to a party thrown by a local dealer (A$AP Rocky). Famuyiwa's stylized vision is steeped in the culture of the '90s, but in a world familiar to millennials.
Trust us when we say this movie is destined to be a classic.
Dope hits theaters on June 19. Check out the exclusive BET.com trailer below.
