Middle of Nowhere Star to Replace Zoe Saldana in Miles Davis Biopic
Don Cheadle's upcoming biopic on Miles Davis lost its leading lady in Zoe Saldana, but has managed to replace the Avatar star with an equally esteemed actress. Middle of Nowhere star Emayatzy Corinealdi has signed on to play the female lead in the film, called Miles Ahead.
Corinealdi will portray Frances Taylor, the wife of the late jazz icon, opposite Cheadle's Davis. The film will take place over several days in the musician's life as he conspires with a Rolling Stone writer to steal back his music. Cheadle is currently crowdfunding $325,000 for the project on Indiegogo.com.
Following her breakout role in Ava DuVernay's Middle of Nowhere, in which she plays a woman coming to terms with her husband's prison sentence, Corinealdi starred in the drama Addicted and will be seen in Amazon's upcoming Hand of God, directed by Marc Forster (Monster's Ball, World War Z).
