Seth Rogen and Zac Efron know what boys want — and that's raunchy humor. Neighbors, the new comedy from Get Him to the Greek director Nick Stoller, grossed $51.1 million at the box office this Mother’s Day weekend, surpassing expectations and knocking The Amazing Spider-Man 2 off its throne.
Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, fell to second place with a $37.2 million gross, totaling $550.2 million globally. Not too shabby for Spidey.
Holding on to third place was the female-centric comedy The Other Woman, starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton — and a cameo appearance by Nicki Minaj — which earned an additional $9.6 million.
Rounding out the top five are faith-based film Heaven Is Real and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which brought in $7 million and $5.6 million, respectively.
Next week, a high-class reboot of Godzilla goes up against Half of a Yellow Sun, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton, and Jon Hamm's sports drama, Million Dollar Arm.
