Jermaine Jackson Changing His Last Name
As if this year’s Jackson Family feud wasn’t enough, America’s first family of music still knows how to make headlines. This time we can thank Michael Jackson’s big brother Jermaine Jackson for the latest family news.
TMZ is reporting that Jermaine has filed a request to legally change his name from Jackson to Jacksun. On Election Day, the founding member of the Jackson Five filed a petition for change of name with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
In his court documents Jermaine says he’s making the change for “artistic reasons” but does not offer additional details beyond that explanation.
The name change request has not been approved by a judge as of yet, but there has been a hearing scheduled on the matter.
In addition to the petition and hearing, there's another procedure that exists for public figures seeking a new name. Jermaine will have his name publicly announced over the next few months before it’s officially a done deal. The announcement can come by way of being printed in a local publication.
So far, no announcements and Jermaine has no comment on the matter. As usual, stay tuned.
