Frontrunners Revealed for Whitney Houston Biopic
The race is on to decide who will play Whitney Houston in the high-profile biopic of the late performer's life. Meagan Good recently disclosed she had been meeting with Houston about the part before her untimely death, but UK's Daily Mail reveals that another name is at the top of insiders' lists: Rihanna.
The sexy pop star — who, aptly, stars in the remake of Houston's classic The Bodyguard — is the rumored favorite, but the Daily Mail says Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Willow Smith and Vivica A. Fox are also being considered. Presumably, they would play Houston at different stages in her life.
Rumor also has it that Clive Davis wants the biopic made pronto and studios are scrambling to put together a script and team that could earn his endorsement.
Rihanna may get the gig, but would she take it? IndieWire's Shadow & Act recalls the Bajan beauty's hesitation in signing on for The Bodyguard:
"I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won't be a stretch for me," she told OK! Magazine at the time.
While there appears to be plenty of actresses on tap to play Whitney, we want to know ... who's in the running to play Bobby Brown?
