Commentator, political analyst, media expert, award-winning journalist and corporate communications executive, Tara Wall has spent nearly 20 years in the fields of media, communications, policy and politics. Wall, a media executive and current Contributor for The Daily Caller (The DC), is the former Deputy Editorial Page Editor/Columnist, News Anchor and Political Analyst for The Washington Times. At the Times, Wall conducted the final exclusive one-on-one Oval Office interview with President George W. Bush his final week in office. She broke news with an above-the-fold front page story of Mr. Bush’s response to incoming President Barack Obama’s announced closure of the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facility. She also anchored television news updates for local Times affiliates, wrote a weekly column and video commentary blog.

A CNN Political Contributor for the 2008 Presidential Election cycle, Wall continues as a frequent on-air analyst for the national networks on shows including “Larry King Live” and “The O’Reilly Factor.”

From 2007-2008 Wall served as Communications Director and Spokesperson at the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Gulf Coast Rebuilding at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Wall was the primary spokesperson responsible for the development of outreach and communications strategy, messaging, and press dissemination as it related to federal efforts to rebuild the Gulf Coast region. The Office of the Federal Coordinator for Gulf Coast Rebuilding helped manage the long-term federal rebuilding efforts and advised the President on the most effective, integrated and fiscally responsible federal strategies for supporting a full and vibrant recovery in the Gulf Coast region.

Wall was appointed by President George W. Bush as Director of the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in February of 2007. At ACF, Wall served as an advisor to the Assistant Secretary, agency spokesperson, managed department and public affairs staff in the development of messaging and media relations, in addition to creating and collaborating on media campaign projects with other federal agencies and community organizations. ACF is responsible for federal HHS programs that promote the economic and social well-being of families, children, youth, individuals, and minority communities.

Prior to her appointment at HHS, Tara Wall was Senior Advisor and Director of Outreach Communications for the Republican National Committee (RNC). In that role, Wall served as a national media spokesperson, advised the RNC Chairman on issues impacting diverse ethnic and religious communities. Wall managed the RNC’s Outreach Communications team, which worked to bring a compassionate conservative message into every community. She also managed the Harris County (TX) Republican Party as Executive Director, which included raising money for local Republican candidates, ballot initiatives and communicating the party’s message through local media outlets.

Tara joined the RNC in May 2004 as Press Secretary for Outreach, after spending 13 years as a television newscaster for local ABC, NBC and CBS affiliates in Western, SE Michigan and Metro Detroit.

While in Detroit Wall created, executive produced and hosted the talk show “Street Beat” for CBS Detroit, which followed CBS’ “Face The Nation.” During the weekly, half-hour political affairs program, Wall interviewed top lawmakers, political, community and business leaders. She covered the 2004 Democratic Presidential debate at Detroit’s FOX Theatre, interviewing all the major candidates and broke the exclusive “Mayor’s Memo” story involving Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick in 2002. “Street Beat” also “took to the streets” of Metro Detroit to interview everyday folks about the most pressing issues at hand. And “Tara’s Two Cents” was a regular show feature, where Wall offered biting conservative commentary on pertinent show topics.

As Director of Public Affairs for CBS Detroit, Wall managed and staffed the station’s community affairs department, which was charged with overseeing the production of “Street Beat”, developing station public service announcements, community affairs outreach and other public relations related projects.

From 1999-2000, Wall worked as Associate Director of Governor John Engler’s SE Michigan office. In that role, Wall facilitated meetings and executed policy as a liaison between the Governor’s office and the City of Detroit. She also managed volunteer efforts for Bush/Cheney 2000 and the “African Americans for Bush” coalition in Detroit.

Prior to her employ with the Governor’s office, Wall was an accomplished broadcast journalist working for television news outlets across mid and southeast Michigan.

In addition to her role as a CNN Contributor appearing on Wolf Blitzer’s Situation Room, Anderson Cooper 360 and Larry King Live, Wall has appeared as a political strategist and expert on several national news outlets, including FOX Newschannel’s “O’Reilly Factor,” MSNBC, C-Span, PBS, ABC News Now, American Urban Radio Networks (AURN), NPR, BET and TV One’s “America’s Black Forum.” Wall has been quoted in the Washington Post, Washington Times, USA Today, Black Enterprise and other publications.

She has received two National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) awards for her documentaries on race in America.

Wall holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University; Major: Telecommunications & Film. Minor: Law & Government.

In her spare time, Wall is a part-time actor and avid kayaker.
