Premiere: Sammie Is Making A Smooth R&B Return To The ‘Good Life’
From the bottom to the top of squealing teenage girls’ hearts, R&B’s heartthrob boy next door is now on grown man status. And while he’s been laying low from the R&B scene for a while, he’s toasting high to the fruits of what makes life worth living in the new track “Good Life.”
Upgrading his former teen sensation croons to sleek, rhythmic vocals at 30 years old, the Miami-bred singer’s latest banger is radio-ready in just four minutes. Pouring up, counting up and turning up is only the beginning of his fresh career trek as he croons over the track. As a seasoned vocalist who knows what it takes to prepare radio-ready bangers, we’re not surprised that Sammie tapped MMG honcho and fellow Floridian Rick Ross to throw bars up to the “Good Life” single either.
“Working with Rick Ross was a dream come true,” Sammie tells BET.com of the collaboration. “I was raised in Miami for six years of my childhood. It's the city where I got my drive, heart and dedication from. My manager, Skino, got in contact with Slab of MMG and Slab took me to Ross's house personally. I told Rozay, ‘Thank you for being a part of my campaign and come back. He replied, ‘It's nothing, we love Sammie, it's all love,’ and to make sure I hit him up for the video. The stars just aligned! Welcome to the ‘Good Life.’"
He'll also be taking the good life on the road for The Savage Tour. Sharing the stage with R&B OG Tank, Sammie will embark on the 17-city tour hitting major cities such as Nashville, Boston, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
As for the single itself, "Good Life" is just one treasure from the tracklist of Sammie’s first independent album, Coming of Age.
As his first full-length project, Sammie’s official musical comeback is right around the corner as he slates the project’s release for September 15. With over a decades worth of industry talent, skill and savvy, the album will take fans on Sammie’s rise from boy to man and all of the obstacles of love, loss and growth in between.
