Here's Why Kevin Gates Won't Be Released From Jail On Time
After spending 180 days in jail on battery charges for kicking a female fan in the chest, Baton Rouge-bred rap star Kevin Gates was scheduled to be released on Friday (March 24) and BWA fans are prepared to rejoice.
However, an unfortunate turn of events, arriving in the form of an out-of-state warrant, has pumped the brakes on what was supposed to be the end of his confinement.
According to XXL, the warrant was issued on felony weapon charges against Gates in Illinois. Polk County Central Booking, the site reports, confirms that the “2 Phones” rapper will be held for the warrant and then extradited to Cook County to face the charges.
Tampa Bay Times gives further detail to these charges, citing a “lengthy rap sheet” from 2013 sprawled with charges such as aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in Illinois.
Gates reportedly will face a hearing on Friday as well.
