What About That Time Kanye West Donated Thousands to Hillary Clinton's Campaign?

Looks like he didn't think this one through.

With Kanye West's name trending well into the late afternoon, many are processing the fact that he not only opted out of voting, but said last night (Nov. 17) that if he did vote, he would've checked Donald Trump's name on the ballot.

While his Thursday evening rant is digested and analyzed by the media and his fans alike, one fact remains true: the West family has previously donated thousands of dollars in support of Hillary Clinton.

As pointed out by this report, West donated at least $2,700 to Hillary for America last year. Additionally, in 2014, he made a generous contribution of $15,000 to the Democratic National Committee.

While his commentary during last night's Saint Pablo tour stop is troubling, factoring in the receipts he's supported the Democratic Party makes his support of Trump that much more confusing and conflicting.

With Trump winning the presidency, some shared that the idea of Kanye West's name on the ballot in 2012 doesn't seem as far-fetched now that the Republican candidate won the election. However, as fans sound off on Twitter calling for boycotts against 'Ye, it appears as though West's vocalized support for Trump may have cost him something much more than a future candidacy — his loyal fan base.
