Beyoncé and Solange Are the Third Pair of Siblings With a No. 1 Album
Solange's new album A Seat at the Table secured the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart this weekend, a first for the singer-songwriter, and we can't imagine anyone more deserving of the acclaim.
But while it's great to see Solo get a bit of, well, solo shine, she shares a distinct honor with her big sis Beyoncé — the sisters, who are clearly each other's strongest supporters, became the third pair of siblings to both have No. 1 albums on the chart.
The other two pairs of siblings in this small, elite group are Michael and Janet Jackson, and Master P and his brother Silkk the Shocker.
What sets Bey and Solange's achievement apart is that both women topped the chart in the same calendar year.
It's a huge accomplishment for both women, in no small part because A Seat at the Table and Lemonade are not only two of the best-selling albums of the year, but two of the most critically acclaimed as well. Bravo, ladies.
