Drake's 'Summer Sixteen' Tour Has Been Postponed

He's over 50 shows deep, too.

Drake has had the summer of a lifetime, and he's not ready to kiss the season goodbye just yet. However, he has come forward to share that he needs to take a little breather from being on stage, going on to share that allowing himself time to recuperate wasn't the easiest decision for him to have to make.

In a statement to fans, via his October's Very Own blog, the rapper shared today (October 5) that he has decided to postpone a few shows due to a recent ankle injury.

"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it out there on the stage every night," the 6 God explained, after addressing his fans as his family and expressing his gratitude that the Summer Sixteen tour has been an unforgettable experience thus far.

"I hate to be told I can't do something, but understand under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support," he continued.

Interestingly enough, the two cities he shouts out are in his beloved hometown, Toronto, and Philadelphia, the hometown of his current rival Meek Mill. He also explained that his doctor asked him to postpone both of his shows in Newark, but since he hasn't performed there before, they came to a compromise of allowing Drake to do just one show instead of two.

"I am crushed to even be typing this announcement because I feel like I am letting my fans in these cities down," Drizzy added. "I only want to give you the best shows you deserve, I promise."

Drake has really come into his own as one of music's top entertainers, bringing out top shelf musical guests and pouring his all into his high-energy performances. We trust that he'll live up to his promise to come back better than ever. He also hinted that he has "new music" on the way to cap off his statement to fans on a positive note.
