Ice Cube Is Revamping This Iconic TV Show With a Hip-Hop Twist

"Hollywood Squares" is making a comeback this fall.

Ice Cube has been tapped by VH1 for a new TV show inspired by the long-running game show Hollywood Squares.

Much like it sounds, Hip-Hop Squares draws inspiration from the popular show that came before it, but this time it's focusing on hip-hop trivia, specifically.

Hip-Hop Squares is going to be fun and spontaneous; unlike typical game shows, viewers should never know what’s going to happen next,” Ice Cube told Billboard in a statement. “When VH1 asked us to join the producing team, we jumped aboard as we have had success with VH1, and we love their team, excitement and commitment to the show.”

VH1 President Chris McCarthy also shared his excitement to have the legendary rapper involved with the show, referring to him as “one of the most prolific figures in hip-hop history and American culture at large.”

The show reportedly has at least 20 episodes in the works and will debut this fall.
