When artists pull audience members up on stage, it without a doubt makes their performance that much more special to lucky fans, while also providing an element of interaction that helps build amazing showmanship that everyone in attendance can appreciate.

While being involved in a performance helps make the evening more memorable, oftentimes artists don’t get to hear about just how special the occasion was for fans retrospectively.

A recent retelling of a guest’s experience at a Kendrick Lamar concert has been warming people’s hearts since the story began circulating on Reddit. 

At the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival back in March, K.Dot noticed an highly excited fan singing his heart out in the front row and decided to pull him on stage during his song “u.”

“u” touches on depression, suicide and mental health, which are very real topics that many can relate to on a very real level. Lamar cited during the performance that people going through those things are one of the reasons fueling why he makes music in the first place. Little did he know, he was talking about the fan that he brought on stage with him.

As told in a detailed account online, that particular song was one that the fan, named Logan, wrote a 1,000 word essay for a school project just two days prior. His essay details how the song speaks to him and helps him through his personal battles with depression.

According to Logan’s brother, who authored the post, Logan “hid his true emotions because he felt [that] admitting he was depressed was giving up.”

As shared in the post, the concert experience changed his life, and ever since, Logan has been taking school seriously, is focused on losing weight and also has a new girlfriend, all which his brother credits directly to Lamar. 

“This has 100 percent been for the best [for] my brother,” says Reddit-user GetGowenz in his post. “I’m so thankful he got the chance to join his idol on stage.”
