Kim Kardashian Slammed For Trying To Get Justice For Death Row Inmate

The reality star is asking for a DNA test for Kevin Cooper.

Kim Kardashian has been involved in advocacy around prison reform for several months now. She most famously, along with the help of activists like Topeka Sam, helped to get Alice Marie Johnson released from prison after over 20 years behind bars for a non-violent drug offense.
Now, she is calling attention to Kevin Cooper, a man who was on deathrow and claimed he was framed for the murder of four people in 1983. For years, Cooper has been asking for a DNA test to prove he was not at the scene of the murder. Kardashian also publicly asked for the governor of California to give him a DNA test and now she is being attacked.

Cooper used all of his judicial appeals and only Governor Brown can help his case. Kim tweeted, "Governor Brown, please add Kevin Cooper to your legacy of smart, fair and thoughtful criminal justice reforms." See below:

However, according to TMZ, San Bernardino County D.A. Mike Ramos has attacked Kardashian, insisting Cooper is guilty and said, "It’s time that we start talking and 'tweeting' about the victims who were brutally murdered in the sanctity of their home."
As we all know, the criminal justice system is not perfect.  How sad that Ramos wouldn't want a DNA test to ensure the right person is on death row.
In 1983, Cooper was accused of hacking two adults and two children to death in San Bernardino County. Cooper, 60, says he was framed, telling The Los Angeles Times in July, “They framed me because I was framable."
The Los Angeles Times also reports, "In May, Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) called for fresh DNA testing after a New York Times column called the case against Cooper 'outrageous.' Earlier this year, four California law school deans called on Gov. Jerry Brown to open an independent investigation, declaring that Cooper’s claim of innocence 'has never been fully and fairly evaluated.'"
We truly hopes Cooper gets the DNA test he has been asking for.
