Ava DuVernay Reveals 'A Wrinkle in Time' Trailer Featuring Oprah Winfrey and More at D23
A Wrinkle in Time is one of next year’s most anticipated films, and now, we’re getting a first look at what’s in store for director Ava DuVernay’s latest project.
Debuting at D23 on Saturday (July 15), the movie’s trailer gives us a sneak peek of the adaptation of Madeline L’Engle 1963 story about a young girl whose scientist father has been missing after disappearing.
The cast includes Oprah Winfrey, who plays Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon (playing Mrs. Whatsit), Storm Reid as Meg Murray (the young girl), Chris Pine (playing the father), Zach Galifianakis (The Happy Medium) and Mindy Kaling, who plays Mrs. Who.
"I saw myself in it, and I saw so many different kinds of people in it," said DuVernay, who along with Winfrey, Pine, Reid and Witherspoon presented the trailer, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "A family story wrapped in an epic adventure where you see worlds you've never seen before."
DuVernay, who is well known for the social justice work she’s done through previous films, also said she wanted the cast to be diverse and include people "that looked like you, that looked like the real world."
