Amber Rose Responds To Kodak Black's Comments About "Dark Skin" Women
Amber Rose is outspoken on a lot of different issues and she’s damn near always on-point with her takes.
Today (July 1), she hit the bullseye about recent comments Kodak Black made about women of color, particularly those with a darker complexion.
Kodak repeatedly described how he doesn’t find women of his complexion or darker attractive and even went as far as to say they’re “too gutter.”
Well, Ms. Rose responded appropriately and says the Florida-based rapper’s comments about women are disappointing.
“This really makes me so sad. Being a ‘yellowbone’ mixed light-skinned woman, I know unfortunately that modeling jobs, boys, and opportunities came to me easier, but did not realize that until I got older,” she captioned on Instagram under a video of Kodak making the controversial statements. “Growing up in Philly I went to an all black school. I was the ‘white girl.’ The one that the boys DIDN'T like. The girl that wasn't as cool as the brown skinned girls. Black was the thing to be!”
Rose, who is mixed herself, says that skin complexion has always been a tool to oppress people, particularly minorities. She also explains how she was a target of discrimination.
“Little did I know at such a young age society was teaching them to hate me,” she continued. “Society was telling these girls that they weren't as beautiful as me because of their complexion. They were too strong and too outspoken.”
She finished by explaining how women need to stick together and educate those with ignorant opinions about skin complexion.
“I can't help that I was born with light skin, but I am a woman before anything else! We need to stick together as women and educate society, educate men like this with black mothers! Not let men/people dictate what type of woman is in style or more beautiful,” she concluded. “We are all smart and capable of being great! No matter where we come from or what complexion we are! If no one tells you you're beautiful, I'm here to tell you that you are! Let's change the stigma.”
Kodak Black kind of responded to Amber Rose’s and really, everyone else’s thoughts on the matter, but his tweets were um, lame? You can see them as well as Amber Rose’s IG post below.
