Another 'Love & Hip-Hop' Star Might Be Headed to Jail
There might be another mug shot in the Love & Hip-Hop family album.
Stevie J, who has managed to avoid jail time despite multiple court cases over several issues (concerning more than one baby mama), might finally have to face the music. According to Bossip, the Love & Hip-Hop star pleaded guilty to failure to pay $1.1 million in child support to his ex, Carol Bennett, with whom he has two children.
The punishment could include up to six months in jail.
In court on Monday, Stevie reportedly signed a waiver of indictment, which stopped the case from going forward. Federal prosecutor Kathleen Riley said had the case gone to trial, the government would have produced witnesses, people involved with employing Stevie and his financial records to show “that Mr. Jordan failed to make child support payments, despite having the ability to do so.”
But he'll have to face the consequences before he can truly put the past in the past. That means he'll be sentenced in January and could face jail time, a $5,000 fine and restitution payments. In the meantime, he has to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, abide by a 10:30 p.m. curfew and promise to stay clean of drugs.
Sounds like Stevie might get a second chance... hope he doesn't screw it up!
