Oh, Snap: Dave Chappelle Slams Black Lives Matter
Dave Chappelle has been "woke" for longer than most millennials have even been alive, but the comedian shocked audiences in NYC with a slam against the Black Lives Matter movement.
According to Showbiz411, Chappelle had some harsh words for the movement while performing in front of a small crowd in preparation for his big trio of shows at the Gramercy Theater, starting tomorrow night.
“This will be a racist show. I’m telling you now,” Chappelle reportedly began his super-private set, during which even cellphones weren't allowed. He then went on to say, “Black Lives Matter is a terrible slogan,” he said. “It’s like naming gum ‘Chewy.’ It’s obvious.” He went on to say he prefers Dwyane Wade’s hashtag “enough is enough.”
After Chappelle's apparent slam started spreading around the internet — even Stacey Dash blogged about it — his publicist decided to speak up and clarify his stance. "It's a comedy show," Carla Sims told Mic, adding that Chappelle is, indeed, a great supporter of the movement, if not their slogan.
Do you agree that it's just comedy?
