1. Angel Reese Declares For the WNBA Draft

Angel Resse, aka the “Bayou Barbie”, has announced that she will be taking her talents to the WNBA. In an exclusive interview with Vogue.com on Wednesday, (April 3), the LSU All-American forward made her intentions official.

“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” Reese says: “I’ve won a national championship, I’ve gotten [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year, I’ve been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro—and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I'm ready.”

In her illustrious her collegiate career,   Reese led LSU to its first national championship in 2023, where she was Most Outstanding Player. She also set the NCAA single-season record in double-doubles and the SEC single-season record in rebounds. As a senior, she was named SEC Player of the Year.

2. Quinta Brunson To Receive Honorary Degree From Temple University

Emmy Award winner Quinta Brunson will be awarded an honorary degree from Temple University during their 137th Commencement in May, in her hometown of Philadelphia. Brunson will also give the commencement address at the ceremony.

“I am simply honored,” said the "Abbot Elementary" star.

“We are thrilled to recognize Quinta Brunson for her remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication to her craft,” said Temple President Richard M. Englert. “Quinta embodies the spirit of Temple’s commitment to creativity, innovation, and social impact. Her talent, authenticity, and trailblazing spirit inspire us all.” 

3. Serena Williams Launches New Cosmetics Line

Tennis icon Serena Willaims has announced the launch of her new cosmetics line. 

After six years of preparation, Wyn Beauty will be available with 90 versatile products for the entire face starting at $18 including a skin tint, lipstick, mascara, and waterproof eyeliner that can be purchased on April 7 at ulta.com and wynbeauty.com.

“I've always been into beauty,” Williams said in a statement. “But when you're a tennis player, there's only so much that you can do because you’re out there on the court for hours. You move and sweat a lot, and you wipe everything away.”

4. Dapper Dan Named Creative Director of 'The Loneliest Color' by Sherwin-Williams

Fashion icon Dapper Dan is bringing signature style to another audience as the Creative Director of "The Loneliest Color" by Sherwin-Williams.

Under his creative direction, the inaugural Loneliest Color, Kingdom Gold SW 6698, will be showcased “through a collection of wearable art pieces designed by Dap and inspired by the beauty of the luminous gold hue, which will be up for auction starting 4/4."

Taking to Instagram, Dapper Dan expressed his excitement about the partnership.

5. Lil Durk Partners With Starry To Offer $330,000 In Schoalrhisps To HBCU Students

Rap superstar Lil Durk has partnered with Staryy to offer HBCU students more than $330,000 in scholarships and prize

Students from four HBCUs, Norfolk State University, Hampton University, Jackson State University, and Morgan State University, will have the opportunity at more than $333,000 in scholarships and prizes, including a chance to secure an NIL deal traditionally reserved for student-athletes—giving a student a first-of-its-kind opportunity to become one of the new faces of STARRY. Additionally, the winner will get an all-expenses paid trip to Kia NBA Tip-Off later this year with their name, image, and likeness featured on promotional materials for STARRY FIZZ FEST 2.0.  

In a statement to BET.com, Durk shared the importance of placing the spotlight on HBCUs.

“Personally, I wouldn't be who I am today without it not HBCUs,” Durk said. “They give me motivation and I motivate them. This is the best partnership to roll out with because sports is one of the biggest things in the world and I come from that background.”

6. LeBron James’ Company Introduces Men’s Grooming Line

LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company is entering the beauty industry with the launch of The Shop Men’s Grooming Line.  The new venture includes products ranging from skincare, hair care, and beard care” to empower men of all ages to embrace and celebrate the importance of personal care.” The line includes seven grooming products that are vegan at affordable prices to be sold exclusively at over 1,600 Walmart stores and on The Shop’s website.

“The Shop” also released “Be The Face,” a digital campaign featuring James, Carter, and Paul Rivera, The Shop’s co-creator in digital ads and billboards, including at New York’s Times Square.

Additionally,” The Shop,” the Emmy Award-winning series, has returned for its seventh season on "The Shop’s: YouTube channel.
