Rick Ross Recalls Awkward Encounter with President Obama During White House Visit

The rap mogul shares a cringe-worthy moment from his meeting with the 44th President, revealing how an ankle monitor mishap briefly disrupted his visit to the White House.

Rick Ross has had a lot of memorable moments during his long music career, but his experience meeting President Barack Obama is one of his most eye-opening.

Sitting down with Complex’s 360 with Speedy, the Maybach Music Group boss told the story of when he was invited to meet with the 44th President in 2016. He was under house arrest at the time, so when his ankle monitor went off in the presence of the former Commander in Chief, it became a situation.

“We was in the [White House] and I heard it go beep,” Rozay described before showing how he reacted at the time by sliding down the couch trying to hide.

“It f****d me up,” he continued. “The Secret Service started moving because everybody gave away they phones—all electronics had to be given up. So when something started making a noise, you saw all the people in the back and I’m like, ‘Damn.’ And then it finally went off and then Obama had to say something. I ain’t gonna repeat it out of respect for Obama though.”

This isn’t the first time Ross has brought this subject up. During a 2020 interview with All Urban Central, the Miami native noted that the incident “really wasn’t cool.”

“It was really a pivotal moment … I’m out on bond, I’m in a situation where they not really letting me travel,” he added. “It’s a serious thing and I get an opportunity … to come see [Obama] despite my situation.”
