Lebron James Announces New Children’s Book ‘I Am More Than’
LeBron James is releasing another children’s book next year.
“I AM MORE THAN is about believing in yourself and all the amazing things you’re capable of, which no one else can define for you. I hope everyone that reads it feels inspired to be ‘more than’ in everything they do,” said the NBA star in a press release, per CNN.
“I Am More Than” follows James’ and illustrator Niña Mata's 2020 New York Times Best Seller picture book "I Promise." This initial work drew inspiration from the principles and endeavors of James' I Promise program in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
HarperCollins Publishers signed a two-book contract with the LeBron James Family Foundation in 2020 with the goal of encouraging young readers, emphasizing the idea that they are beyond merely "one label, trait, or interest."
Founded in 2011, the foundation, as outlined on its official website, provides students and their families with the necessary resources, incentives and both academic and emotional support to encourage school attendance.
“It’s been incredible to see students, teachers, and families respond to ‘I Promise’ and its message of encouragement. With this next book, we want to continue inspiring kids everywhere to keep dreaming big and not let anything hold them back,” James said in the release.
“We are so excited to publish LeBron’s second picture book that will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of leaders to be all that they dream to be…and more,” said the book’s editor Luana Horry.
The new book's eye-catching cover depicts three happy children beaming as they hold up the book's title. The hardcover version of the book costs $21.99, while the digital download is only $2.99.
“I Am More Than” is scheduled for release April 2, 2024.The future Hall of Famer also co-authored a middle-grade book called "We Are Family" with journalist and writer Andrea Williams this year.
